Plagiarism Policy

International Journal of Science and Technology (IJST) thus developed and implemented the following plagiarism policy that may implemented in future:

IJST is an internationally double-blind peer-reviewed scholarly journal committed to the highest level of academics ‘etiquette.’ In this case, plagiarism means wrongful action of using or copying a work by another individual without even the smallest gesture of crediting the actual owner. This covers cases of self-citation, where authors quote a relatively large part of their previous papers without prior citation.

Policy Guidelines:

1. Originality Requirement: Authors should also note that works that are submitted for publication must be original works. In any manuscript, any use of work or words from other authors must be either cited or quoted.
2. Plagiarism Detection: Any manuscript submitted to the journal is run through an advanced plagiarism checking software in order to cheque the level of similarity to other published articles.
3. Acceptable Similarity Threshold: It is still highly consistent with the similarity level standards as a journal. For instance, certain journals frown at candidates whose similarity index is equal to or more than 15% including references and less than 5% excluding the references.

4. Consequences of Plagiarism:

  • Minor Plagiarism: Where pieces are paraphrased in small sentences or stained in short paragraphs without merging a lot of data or ideas. Authors will be warned and will be asked to resubmit the manuscript with appropriate citations included.
  • Intermediate Plagiarism: Pertains to cases where there is massive parade of data or statements failure to properly attribute the source. Manuscripts of such nature will be dismissed outright.
  • Severe Plagiarism: Pertains to faithful restatements of large parts of the manuscript, including original data, concepts, or techniques, without proper referencing. These manuscripts will be dismissed, and authors can be barred further from submitting papers to that journal.

5. Post-Publication Measures: In case of any presumed case of plagiarism, the journal will (10) undertake an investigation. According to the extent of misconduct, the paper may be withdrawn, and the necessary notifications will be forwarded to the authors’ sponsoring organisations and institutions.
6. Author Responsibilities: IJST requires all authors to verify that the manuscript submitted is their unpublished work and has not been submitted to any other journal for consideration. Authors have also to procure all necessary permissions for the used content as well as the citation of all source properly.

IJST is devoted in sharing information regarding ethical principle as regards to research and in preserving the credibility of the published record. It is compliant with all contributors minimise plagiarism level to the maximum while preserving the high quality of the scholarly communication.
